In collaboration with Real Property Division (RPD) of the Province of British Columbia's Ministry of Citizens’ Services (CITZ), TAD conducted feasibility and schematic design studies for St. Ann’s Academy in Victoria, BC.
The study evaluated building systems and proposed efficiency-enhancing strategies to minimize energy consumption and reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, offering options for repair, replacement, or upgrade. Three main retrofit options were outlined: a like-for-like replacement (10-30% reduction), achieving 80% or more GHG and energy reduction, and optimal reductions with positive Net Present Value (NPV). Passive House EnerPHit certification criteria were considered, but insulation addition was deemed infeasible due to heritage and envelope concerns, preventing compliance with EnerPHit standards.
