The Beaux Arts Station, originally designed in 1911 by Pratt & Ross Architects, had faced significant deterioration due to its initial design's incompatibility with the humid West Coast climate. In 2009, we spearheaded a comprehensive renovation and restoration initiative for Via Rail Canada's station, bolstered by federal government funding.
The project encompassed masonry and stucco repairs, enhancements to seismic standards, replacement of lintels and windows, installation of zinc flashings, renovation of parapets and roofing, and restoration of the iconic neon sign. Throughout, utmost care was taken to honor the station's original design while modernizing it to meet contemporary standards.
This endeavor stands as a testament to our commitment to preserving architectural heritage while ensuring functionality for present-day needs.
